It feels like we don’t have time for slow right now.
Modern, postmodern culture is fast.
Fast like the internet fast.
Fast like electricity fast.
Fast like cars and planes and missiles.
Like electoral victories and billionaire driven impact.
Fossil fuel fast.
but fast needs slow
Take fossil fuels for example. Millions of years of heat and pressure to convert plants into the magic elixir for industrialization.
You are the result of slow.
The impossibly slow unfolding of evolution.
4.5 billion years to get to you. To get to this moment.
It took slow to give you the gift of fast.
The miraculous speed of thought, imagination and creativity.
The intense, electro-chemical excitement of your nervous system.
Born from the slow cook of evolution.
Making a difference needs fast and slow.
But slow feels, well … slow!
And it can feel like we don’t have time for slow right now.
making your peace with slow
Making a difference needs slow.
And making your peace with slow makes all the difference to your nervous system.
Try this exercise:
Take a minute, relax back into yourself, close your eyes.
Count three breaths, just as they come, in and out.
Take your imagination back, 4.5 billion years ago, back to the beginning of this planet we call earth.
One big rock.
Expand your awareness of time to feel the being of earth from then until now.
Invite yourself to know this planet-being as you.
Breathe and rest into the expanse of this grand adventure.

life is a slow cook
The oldest evidence of life forms that we may have found so far? 890 million years old, according to a 2021 report in the journal Nature.
Fast takes slow.
Everyone knows the story of the tortoise and the hare, right?
Slow and steady wins the race.
There is wisdom in it.
But also fake news.
Because there is no race!
there is no race
Each experience is an essential part of the unfolding.
Slow and fast.
Connecting to the deepest part of ourselves means connecting to the whole.
It is our doorway, our access point, the ever present, 100% reliable connection to the flow of change that we are.
You look a lot like a person.
But remember, not only.
Staying connected to the flow while living the unique, irreplaceable, specific and finite, human beingness that you are …
That’s the work.
Power and vulnerability.
The infinite and the finite.
Impossibly tangled up as the unique experience which is you.
Fast and slow.
So glad you are here in this moment.
You’ve got this.
And the world needs you.
Love
Hellene
